A man`s decaying body washed up on St Martin`s Island in Cox`s Bazar this morning.
The identity of the deceased, who was approximately 35 years old, could not yet be determined, according to Abul Halim, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station.
He said the deceased was taken to the district sadar hospital for an autopsy.
In the previous three days, three bodies appeared up on the shores of Cox`s Bazar. A woman`s body was discovered on Teknaf`s Sabrang beach on Wednesday, and a man`s body was discovered on Ukhiya`s Inani beach on Thursday, according to authorities.
Nur Mohammad, a St Martin`s Island resident, said they assumed that the body was a Rohingya fortune seeker who died while traveling to Malaysia by boat or trawler.
Rafiqul Islam, an additional superintendent of police in the district, said the incidents are being investigated.
"Phone numbers from Myanmar and Malaysia were found with the woman`s body," he said, suspecting the three died at sea while traveling to Malaysia.
